With an aim to promote language development among children, the Child Labour Free Mica spearheaded the initiative to establish print-rich classrooms in 12 Anganwadis in the mica-dependent region of Jharkhand.
By immersing them in a sea of written materials such as books, posters, and labels, these classrooms serve as fertile ground for enhancing vocabulary and comprehension skills from an early age. The emphasis on early literacy skills, including letter and number recognition, forms a sturdy foundation for future reading and writing proficiency. Moreover, these vibrant learning spaces offer a platform for creativity and imagination to thrive through storytelling sessions and imaginative plays. Through collaborative activities, these classrooms also promote social interaction and cooperation among peers, teaching them several important social skills.
The impact of these print-rich classrooms will be felt by 411 children, who will receive invaluable opportunities for holistic development. By integrating language-rich environments into Anganwadis, we are not only addressing the immediate needs of the children but also laying the groundwork for their long-term academic success and personal growth. Through this initiative, we aim to make an early intervention to create a love for learning, empowering children with the tools and skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern world with confidence and competence.
